Reading Activities
Our 629 English Reading Day has been an amazing success! This year, our theme was “From China to the Next Horizon”, and we invited every student to become a brave little Voyager. Through English reading, cultural exploration, games, and performances, students enjoyed learning in a fun and meaningful way.
Highlights of the Day
1) Book Fair & Reading Time
Students explored books and discovered new stories and ideas. Reading became a journey filled with curiosity.

2) Cultural Exploration
Through activities connected to Chinese culture, students learned, reflected, and shared ideas in English.

3) Reading Talk
Our reading talk focused on China’s aerospace technology, encouraging students to understand how innovation, engineering, and teamwork make space exploration possible. The session inspired students to think bigger and dream further—like true Voyagers!

4) Exciting Classroom Activities
In class, our voyagers took part in exciting reading activities connected to Chinese festivals and traditional food. They also explored Chinese technology and discovered Chinese building and craftsmanship skills through English reading materials, group sharing, and guided discussions.

The “Story Parents” parent volunteers take turns in the classroom to share picture books with Primary one students. The picture books include “Greedy Uncle’s Strawberries,” “Brother Egg,” and “That’s Mine.” Through these stories, students learn the joy of sharing and begin to know themselves as they grow.
The “Story Parents” parent volunteers also help the school promote reading activities. They show the spirit of home-school cooperation and work together to create a great reading atmosphere in the school. This helps young students learn to love reading from an early age.

In the post-test period, the school holds “624 Reading Day” for all students.
Students join different activities to increase their interest in reading. They also learn more about bamboo culture and green living.
Through bamboo craft experience activities, students can practice hands-on skills and improve their ability to do activities themselves.
With the guidance of invited guests (the principal and author Dr. Poon Po-chui, and a sports commentator, Mr. Chung Chi-kwong), participants do deep reading. They explore the book “小鎮漫遊指南”and share reading ideas. This helps students learn more about the history, nature, and culture of towns and countryside in the motherland.
In the end, both the on-site and online participants read together at the same time. This creates a joint reading atmosphere across different schools.
To help students build a reading habit, the school has a DEAR TIME morning reading session.
Every day, students enjoy reading while listening to pleasant background reading music after handing in their homework.
The “Positive Story House” reading activity aims to help students build resilience (ability to face difficulties).
Through stories, students explore the wisdom and courage of the story characters. This helps students build positive lives together and share happiness and plenty.
The school holds a Community Travel Day. Little Coffee Bean and his classmates visit shops in Sham Shui Po. They talk with the shop staffs and learn that care and responsibility help you do a job well.
When they visit a coffee shop, a small accident happens. It helps them learn how to be honest and responsible little beans.
